Behind The Brand
Sweet Pea's Grill & Bar in Geneseo, Illinois is working to become a local favorite.
Our foundation is built upon quality; our products, our service and our people. We start with high quality, locally sourced ingredients. Then we prepare the kind of food that we'd like to enjoy. We serve it up in a relaxed atmosphere with a side of warmth and hospitality. Our goal is to treat you the way we'd like to be treated.
We are locally owned and operated.
The owner, Adam Minard, grew up in Geneseo and attended Geneseo High. He began working in the restaurant industry at the age of 16. He went on to attend Western University in Macomb, Illinois. After graduating, he worked for awhile with the Quad City River Bandits. Adam soon realized though that his true passion was in the restaurant business.
Adam went from being a manager of a popular local business, to owning his own restaurant, Sweet Peas Grill & Bar in 2016.
The goal for Adam was to create a restaurant that would highlight all the best features and flavors of the Midwest and its residents; colorful, flavorful, tasteful and delightfully relaxed and unpretentious, warm and friendly. He wanted to build a restaurant that will be part of people's everyday lives and their special events and celebrations. Most days, you'll find Adam in the restaurant as a quiet supportive presence. He usually checks on every table (leaving guests thinking they just spoke to the manager) but in fact, it is the owner that wants to ensure they are having a good time and a good experience.
In the hospitality industry, you find a wide range of personalities and approaches. Adam's approach is putting people first, building a business that will be an asset to the guests, staff and the community and building a business that local's can call 'their own', an integral part of the community. Adam worked hard to establish a team of people that work well together. People make the difference. A positive attitude will make a world of difference in our long term success. At Sweet Peas we are blessed with great people. We are grateful for the people that are part of our lives and that make Sweet Peas a great place to be!
Due to its ideal location just off Interstate 80, Adam also delights in entertaining travelers and giving them a taste of Midwest hospitality. Many travelers comment that they will surely be stopping back on their next trip. The restaurant enjoys a great working arrangement with the Best Western hotel that is just steps away from Sweet Pea's Grill & Bar.
Guests can expect to enjoy local flavor and local hospitality. The artwork on the walls at Sweet Pea's are images featuring scenes captured in the local area, taken by a local photographer, who happens to be married to the owner. Highlighting the best features and finding the beauty and joy in the place they call home, is part of their character. We love to promote local talent and highlight the things that make our area memorable. It's local flavor at it's best!
Like most entrepreneurs, Adam wants to build a sustainable business for his family and be an asset to his local community. Adam and his wife have two young sons. Adam says his work ethic is motivated by the dream of building a better future for family. It's a great example of the concept of 'grow where you are planted'. Adam's roots were firmly established in Geneseo and in the hospitality industry so he applies those talents, strengths and abilities to every level his life and business.
We invite you to come and experience Sweet Pea's hospitality for yourself! See you soon!

Six Days a Week, Moving Forward
After much thought and careful consideration, we've decided to change from a 7 day a week schedule to being open 6 days a week. Sweet Peas will be closing on MONDAYS ONLY. This change will be implemented after June 29th (so Monday, July 6th will be the first Monday we will be closed).
We enjoy every minute of serving our amazing customers. The challenges of the past few months have helped us determine that we, as a staff, need one day a week, to push the reset button. We are confident this change will be an important aspect of our continuing efforts to evolve and provide you with the great food, service and experience you deserve! Thank you for your kindness, consideration and on-going support. We look forward to seeing you and serving you the other 6 days of the week.
If any group gatherings were previously held on Mondays; please call me to discuss alternate days we can accommodate your group. 309-944-1122
Again, thank you for you continued support through the challenges of Covid-19.
We are incredibly blessed to be part of a great community. Thank you Geneseo and beyond! <3
Sincerely,
Adam
